BOCOTE

Bocote has a yellowish-brown body with dramatic dark brown to almost black stripes. Color tends to darken with age. Also, the grain patterning can be quite striking, particularly on flatsawn areas. It’s not uncommon to see many “eyes” and other figures in Bocote. With its striking, zebra-like contrasts, and bold figuring, Bocote can be a very eye-catching wood.

BUBINGA

Bubinga, sometimes called African Rosewood, has a beautiful red-brown color. A variety of different, quite stunning figures often decorate its grains (pommelle, waterfall, mottled and wildly flamed). The base color of Bubinga can range from a lighter pinkish red to light- to medium- brown. Trees can grow to towering proportions, so the larger specimens are often cut into large, live-edge slabs.

The surface of the slab is usually smooth and free of any major knots or blemishes, making it ideal for use as a decorative element. The slab’s uniform grain and striking color make it a popular choice for showcasing its natural beauty.

Profile: Round and unique shaped slabs

Applications: Furniture, cabinet, fine turnings, carvings, musical instruments, and seaworthy boats, adapting well to cutting board stock.
